SUBJECT: Vessels or Companies owned by the Peoples of North Korea (DPRK)
Introduction
The General Directorate of Merchant Marine of the Panama Maritime Authority makes a call for attention to the Recognized Organizations, authorized by Panama, on the measures imposed by the Security Council of the United Nations, to the Democratic People's Republic of North Korea (DPRK), aimed to preventing the proliferation of nuclear, chemical and biological weapons and their means of delivery, that which constitutes a threat to international peace and security.
In accordance with UNSC Resolution 2270 (2016), all member states are required to deregister and refrain from registering any vessels owned, operated, or crewed by North Korea.
Therefore we have taken the following actions:
Request of quotation or authorization to ClassIBS Head Office, the ClassIBS Surveyors, Auditors, Ship Owner, Ship Manager or Ship Operator requesting a Classification or Statutory Services or any other related certification services, shall make sure that the Ship or the Company is not included in the sanctions list of the Office of Foreign Assets Control (OFAC).
Vessels or Companies registered under another flag owned by the People's Republic of North Korea (DPRK) or whose final beneficiary is that Nation, will not receive any statutory/classification services from ClassIBS surveyors or auditors.
Is strictly prohibited to provide any classification, statutory or other related certification services to ships registered or relating to the People's Republic of North Korea (DPRK)
